A Mother's Touch

I spent my day holding a sick little boy...again.

After just recovering from a cold/ear infection/hand, foot, and mouth combo he has a horrible case of hives! We originally thought his hives were just a result of a change in dryer sheets but as they have progressed we think he may be having an allergic reaction to the medicine for his ear infection! Poor guy can't seem to catch a break lately.

While I am loving the extra cuddles from this sick little boy, I sure would love to have a healthy one. But it sure warms a mom's heart when she is the only one her son reaches for, cries for, asks for. Nothing like a mother's touch... :) I love it! All too soon that son will be grown and have a wife and family of his own and there will be another woman there to help him when he is sick.

So I will not worry that the bed went unmade today, or that vacuuming needed to be done... instead I will just hold my little boy who needs me.

I can relate to so many of your posts! This one reminded me of Seth. As a toddler he was so active that he wouldn't let me hold him unless he was sick. (So much so that sometimes that is how I first realized he was getting sick.) I sort of felt torn at times- sad that he was feeling rotten and grateful to finally be able to cuddle him!
The Farm Party and the Gingerbread House are adorable. One year my sister Christy's turned out so bad they declared that it had been hit by a tornado. That is the one they remember. :)
